Maine law allows colleges and Universities to regulate the possession of deadly weapons on their property See:

The University of Maine generally prohibits wearing, displaying, using, or possessing weapons on campus. Certain weapons can be stored with campus police for hunting and sporting purposes See Policy
As of January 1, 2025, no public or private university permits concealed guns on campus grounds or in buildings.
